STEPS (steps to excellence) is about making positive changes in life that have a good effect on the way we feel about ourselves and our relationships with children/spouses/partners etc. They are run in the Alderney area subject to enough people being interested. Provides community social work support of lone parents and families with disabilities in either adults or children or both. Group for single parents meets every Thursday 10.15am to 12.15pm at the St Johns centre Shelly Rd Boscombe. Thi group offers a change to make new friends, information, confidential advice and support and regular outings, etc. Barrier breakers - goup for parents of a child o children with learning difficulties, a dissability impairment, or long term illness. Provides a chance for parents to talk, share ideas and information with other parents. Meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 10.30 am to 12 noon. In the Hall of Boscombe Baptist Church on the corner or Gladstone and Palmerstone Rd. Parents of Children Who Care - group for parents with disabilities, who get togther to offer support to one another. Raises awareness about the needs of children and young people who have a caring role and who assume responsibility for their parents.
